Located in a private hillside community of custom homes in Del Mar, California,
this home features some of the finest electronic conveniences. Originally built
as a spec home, Modern Home Systems was called in to retrofit most of
the electronic features that the “Tech Savvy” owner wished for.
Modern Home Systems engineers retrofitted a high-performance dedicated
theater room, plasma screens & sources in the master bedroom and billiard/bar areas, a family room entertainment system, and a full-house music system with music in all major rooms, plus outdoor pool & putting green. They also retrofitted a lighting control system interface and phone/intercom/door answering system.

Theater
The bonus room of the house was converted into a reference level theater system.
The owner demanded the best possible quality audio and video given the constraints
of the room. Modern Home Systems installed a Runco 9” CRT video projector
and Faroudja video line quadrupler that were used in conjunction with a Stewart
eight-foot wide horizontal masking filmscreen. Proceed electronics and amplifiers
power a full complement of Revel Ultima series speakers.

The net result is “WOW!” - stunning picture and absolutely amazing
sound. The room is topped off with crushed velvet between the hardwood columns
on the walls, comfortable leather theater recliners, and two smaller televisions
that allow the owner to view multiple football games simultaneously. As with
all of our projects, a portable Crestron touchpanel makes all of the sophisticated
electronics simple to use.
Note:
The day the theater room was completed the owner had his first “hole-in-one”
golfing! A direct result of having a theater at this
level installed? Absolutely!

Living / Billiards Area
A living room entertainment system borders the family's billard room / bar area. Each contains it's own TV system.

Living Room
The living area contains a full surround sound system so the family can take advantage of all the great TV programs now available in surround, while viewing their Pioneer Elite rear projection TV.

Component Cabinet
Audio equipment for the house is contained in an entertainment cabinet that also houses the TV. And the system control is accessed by a Marantz programmable IR (infrared) remote control.

Billiard / Bar Area
The billiard room - to the side of the family living area - has its own TV, audio, and control system. On the wall is a Fujitsu 42 inch HD plasma monitor which is suppplied by a dedicated VCR, DVD, and high-definition cable box.
A Crestron color in-wall touchpanel control means no more hunting for the remote!

Den / Office
The luxurious office space offers a place for serious work or quiet contemplation by the fireplace... or a bit of TV viewing on a Sony WEGA 36 inch TV, when appropriate.

For Him: a Fujitsu 50" HD plasma display on a pull-out & swivel wall bracket

Outdoors
Audio goes outside the home with hidden speakers by the pool and the putting green. The music sources inside can be controlled from outside via remote control.
